HP just announced they are getting rid of their Touchpad and the Web OS line up. It feels like just yesterday they acquired Palm’s software. They are now going to buy Autonomy which is an information management company. Instead of battling Apple they’ll be trying to battle IBM.
UPDATE: As of today 8/22/2011 9AM ET they are liquidating the unsold tablets for around $99. UPDATE: As of today 8/22/2011 12PM ET they are sold out. Good luck trying to find it at $99 as they seem to be selling out fast. At $400-500 I wouldn’t buy a Touchpad, but at $99 I would if I didn’t have my current tablet (Acer Iconia A500). The developers are already working on porting Honeycomb on the device.
